Ernie Bukovy's Big Band was playing at the 1965 New Year's Eve dance.  In those days the dance would run until 4 a.m.   It was like 'dance heaven' with the men on one side of the hall and the women on the other side.  There were no tables, only chairs lined around the walls.  Everyone danced in pairs.  The hall was full of people with much laughter, chatter, music and even romance.
All the ladies were in their best dresses.  Ellen's Ladies Wear at the corner of Bay Street and Machar Avenue was the place to go to buy the 'perfect' dress.  The men were in suits and ties or white shirts with dress pants.   Those were the days!  - MKP
